Frequently asked questions

The EDCH Registry displays profiles of organisations in a clear and accessible format. The elements of the profiles include:

  • Organisation name and contact information
  • Organisation type and relationship to parent entities (if applicable)
  • Services offered and tools/technologies supported
  • Geographic range of services
  • Types of outputs published or supported
  • Supported languages
  • Disciplinary focus
  • Links to service descriptions and access points

The Registry welcomes organisations in the European Research Area involved in Diamond OA publishing:

  • Publishers: organisations responsible for preparing, producing, and distributing scholarly content to the public. This content can take various forms, such as books, journals, and conference proceedings.
  • Service Providers: organisations that provide services and/or infrastructure to authors, editors and publishers for scholarly publishing. Such activities include, but are not limited to: editorial activities; operational activities (copy editing, proofreading, type-setting, creating metadata); IT activities; communication activities (marketing/dissemination, social media, etc); as well as administrative and financial activities.
  • Tools and Technology Providers: organisations that provide tools and/or technologies such as standards, code, hardware and software that enable Publishers and service providers to perform specific tasks or operations to achieve their objectives

Important notes:

  • For-profit entities can only qualify as Service Providers, if they directly support Diamond OA (see our criteria for inclusion).
  • Individual journals are not eligible—the Registry hosts organisations enabling Diamond OA publishing.

An organisation can be registered by individual users who are authorised as representatives of their respective organisations.

All members of registered organisations or individuals involved in the European Diamond OA landscape can join the forum by creating their own account.

To check if your organisation is already registered, search our database. If it is not listed, register and create its profile. (To access the forum, the editorial team of a journal should check if its publisher is registered, rather than its hosting platform).

The Registry database was initially populated with data collected by the DIAMAS project. Individual users, authorised as representatives of their respective organisation, are granted editing rights for the organisation's profile in the Registry. These representatives are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the data by regularly updating their organisation’s profile elements.
